what kind of motor replacement

I have a 1994 Four Winns Fling 115 hp with bad engine. would like to know if there is a newwer more efficient engine to replace it.Maybe a direct injected two stoke or even a four stroke. I am very mechanically inclined so work isn,t a problem and I am retired so I have some time.Anybody got info?

Lately I hear the big 4-stroke Johnson's (*Since Bombardier*)are the ticket of late - they have Suzuki power head on them and I've heard nothing but great things and recomendations from dealers state-wide here.
