I want a tach on my boat but the stator is bad on my motor and I am only working 3 days a week so it isn't getting replaced anytime soon but I can swing a tiny tach but which one do I need?

I have an '81 Evinrude 50 2 cylinder.

Also they have one that comes with a 6' pick up wire which won't be long enough, is that special wire or can I extend that myself, they do hav eone with a 14' lead but I don't know if it will work on my boat and I don't need to buy something that won't work?

Unless someone has a stator they will sell me for $40.....

Thanks

if you want a permanent installation, buy a real tach. i use my tiny tach to set up motors, the pull it off, and it goes on the shelf. the wire is special, and they have to install it.

inquire with them as to exactly which one you need. the induction pick up of the tiny tach, is a wire that wraps around the spark plug wire. not good for permanent installation.

All I really need it for is to find a prop, I would like to go stainless, so temperary is okay.

They had one that I think would work on Ebay but the wire was only 6' long, again fine for temperary but not permanent.

Thanks TD.
