Hi,
I have bought an old 76 playcraft pontoon that I am fixing up, I need to replace the steering cable. I can not find any writing on the cable at all, no name, numbers, nothing.
I think I will buy a cable kit that comes with the part that sits behind the steering wheel, that the cable goes thru.
Anyway my question is:
My cable measures 12' 6" from black to black but it is 16' overall.
It is the old style cable that has the nut on both ends.
I have tried to read on the internet what length cable I need, but ended up confused,

What length cable do I need to order?

Thank you in advance for your help,
Curtis

So your cable measures 12.6 feet laid out?If I understand correctly then you need a 13 foot new one or as close as can be.

yes you are correct,
laid out on the shop floor it is 12.6 long from nut to nut, it is 16 feet total length measuring from the rod that connects to the outboard to the other end that threads thru the mechanism behind the steering wheel.
Thank you for your help.
