Boat: 2007 Sea Ray 185 Sport
Engine: 2007 4.3L I/O 190 hp carb
Alpha 1, Gen 2
Hrs: 180

Bought the boat in Feb 2013. It had 140 hrs on it when I bought it, no problems whatsoever. Put about 40 hrs on it until the last time I took it out (October 2013). A couple weeks ago I pulled it out of storage and ran it on the hose for about 30 minutes. Started just fine, idled fine, got up to temp just fine, etc...etc. No problems. Added some Stabil to the full tank of gas, hooked the charger up and topped the batteries off (they were still fully charged, both are interstate, new in 2013), washed the boat, and put it away.

As it starts to warm back up now, I'm thinking I'd like to do any maintenance items now so that it's ready to go for the 2014 season.

What are the items I should do based on hrs/age (lets assume nothing has every been done before)?
What are the things i should "check" while in there and have it apart?

Here's what I can think of off the top of my head:
impeller
water pump (should i need to do this yet?)
new belt (it looks fine, would you do it anyway?)
new gear oil
new engine oil
spark plugs (should I need to do this yet?)
check bellows
check gimbal bearing?
change oil filter
change fuel filter/water separator

Anything else?

Good list so far. The water pump that gets changed is the impeller. Make sure you check the alignment while you have the drive off.

impeller [Yes]
water pump (should i need to do this yet?) [No]
new belt (it looks fine, would you do it anyway?) [No]
new gear oil [Yes]
new engine oil [Yes]
spark plugs (should I need to do this yet?) [If they look OK then no]
check bellows [Yes]
check gimbal bearing? [Pull the drive, check gimbal for roughness, alignment as Thumper mentioned, grease bearing]
change oil filter [Yes]
change fuel filter/water separator [Yes]

Check lights, horn, fire extinguisher, life jackets, anchor, all other equipment

Then go boating :)

+1 with alldodge, your gimbal bearing And U-joints may be sealed with no way to grease them, so should either need replacing go with sealed units. Don't forget to retorque the gimbal ring clamping bolts (55 ft/lb) and grease the driveshaft and propshaft.

I like to lube all of my steering pivot points and linkages from the remote on back to the engine too.

In addition: Check all hoses and tighten all hose clamps, float switch and bilge pump operation, VHF radio, undate your tool kit, and tighten cleats.I believe that changing the drive belt on that engine requires removing a motor mount. If so, and you decide to change the drive belt, slip a second belt under the mount as well and secure it out of the way with zipties. That way, if a belt breaks while you're on the water, the new belt can be installed without any hassle. Then be patient until the season begins! Hy
