i have '73 Galaxy 18' i/o bowrider with mercruiser inline 6 165hp. the front motor mount was moving around on me, so i went tighten screws (that hold front motor mount to transom) and they pulled right out. do these screws go directly into wood (which is apparently rotten around these screw holes)? this is the first indication i have had that any wood in this boat is not sound. it has been stored inside , out of the water its entire life. since i cant relocate the holes , should i use larger screws, or is there another way to secure front motor mount? thanks for any input, dave

Your right the front mounts to the wood in most boats. Check this out. Go down to engine beds and mounts I think this is what your asking??

Mount Rot

I recently used the stuff from Rot Doctor to fix a rotten section of floor on my Four Winns and it works very well, the layup and laminating resin and the epoxy filler made an extremely stong repair. I treated all surronding wood with the Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer first.
