What model Hummingbird?

Hi everyone---new to forum and first post.

I recently purchased a 16'-1989 Bayliner Bass Trophy and in the process of applying some overdue TLC.

The boat came equipped with a Hummingbird transducer, wiring and the mounting bracket/head but no finder/console. Besides the name Hummingbird, the only other printing I've seen is "High Speed" on the transducer.

Is there anyway to determine the Hummingbird finder model(s) that would work with the hardware that is already installed?

If I could determine the model(s), I thought I maybe able to locate (eBay, etc.) an actual console (without the hardware) that would work---thereby, saving me some dough.

Thanks!

Re: What model Hummingbird?

Why spend time looking for just the head -- chances are the unit you find on e-bay will come with the transducer. If you get lucky -- both setups will work. Otherwise you run the risk of buying a head that's not compatible with the transducer. Your best bet would be to contact Humminbird to see what sort of transducer and connector styles exist and what units are compatible. Go from there. Generally, transducers over time tend to stay the same but connector styles have changed.

Re: What model Hummingbird?

my expierience has been that e-bay a is waste of time for fish finders or gps. Anchorexpress.com or basspro comes in second for the best prices. Seems to me the stuff on ebay is higher, and these two sight are real well setup. Iboats store is real good too. If you can get just the monitor by its self these sites will probably serve you better. Don't forget until you have that transducer hooked up you don't know if it works eather. Ideals.com was competative in prices, but the first three sites I mentioned impressed me that they would be the best on service and price
