What model is my boat?

First post! I recently purchased my first boat. It is a 15 ft. Caravelle fishing boat and I can't figure out which model it is. The previous owner doesn't know anything. The title says it was built in 1972 (not sure if that is accurate). There was a metal I.D. plate mounted on the inside of the transom with the following information:

Model No. = CX 153 (15 ft. 3 in. ???)
Max Wt. = 900 lbs. / 3 person
Max HP = 60 HP

The boat has a center console and a live well. The motor is a 1970 Evinrude 18 hp (doubt its the original motor). Caravelle had several CX models for different years, including 1972, but I cannot find a CX 153 model. The hull is fiberglass and the trailer is a Dilly. iboats has a database of Caravelle boats but it crashes because it's currently in beta. I am bound and determined to get every bit of information on this boat. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if someone could tell me how to take a photo small enough to post, I will post a couple of photos. Thx.

Welcome to iboats. You could use a site like photobucket.com to post your pics on here. Is there a number on the exterior of the transom, starboard side, top right corner?

Re: What model is my boat?

I have a question for the guys on iboats......I have a boat to that needs to be identified also. Is it possible for Souljah or me for example to take the number down to department of motor vehicle or where ever to see what the numbers off the side of the boat might be registered for? Could you find out the make of the boat that way?

Souljah that boat looks like an older model I would say 72 sounds right. Does it have a 2 cable steering system or no?

you can take the registration number from the bow of the boat. but won't get anymore info than is on the title.

Thanks TD. That isn't the original motor for that boat, looks like a tiller steer on it if I'm looking at it correctly.

Re: What model is my boat?

Yep! The only model information regarding my boat is the I.D. tag found on the transom. I guess I have a one-of-a-kind mystery model!?!?

Model No. = CX 153 (15 ft. 3 in. ???)
Max Wt. = 900 lbs. / 3 person
Max HP = 60 HP

So far, this model does not exist (CX 153).

Just a general comment on getting an ID on a boat - sometimes you will find one with the registration numbers missing and no hull ID number, but find that the state tag (the one that goes next to the reg. #) is still intact. Depending on how your state keeps its records, you may be able to get info on the boat just by providing the serial number on the state tag.

I am also running in to the same problem. wait dont run yet I have a web site for ya! lol

I have a old caravelle 16 foot with a 100 hp johnson on it. the boat is green.
its missing the info plate also. so I dont know what it is for sure. But I called the park rangers. and they gave me this website. And they can send you a new info plate on your boat. Its pretty easy and only cost five bucks.
Im waiting on mine. But if any one can tell me what my old boat is I would be grateful. anyhow heres the site. I hope it works for all of us.
