Can't tell the model from the HIN alone. What you can tell is the manufacturer, serial #, month and year of build, model year (in that order). So it's a Sylvan Marine s/n 3489 built August 1987 as a 1988 model... if I'm reading the HIN correctly. Didn't the person you bought it from tell you (or can tell you)? Are there any other decals with numbers? What about past registrations?
