What Octane?

I have a 2004 Yamaha 150 TXRC (carbed 2 stroke). In an earlier post there was a mention that 93 octane fuel can actually hurt performance. My question is, What octane fuel do you guys recommend? I've been running 93. Thanks, especially too Big Daddy RODBOLT and yam99. You guys have saved me $1000's.

From what I have read they are designed to run on 87

Thanks Bros. I've been busy and this is my first chance to reply. First is a open invite to a vacate in Tampa Fl. Off shore fishing, inshore fishing, family shelling expo or kick a** buffet on the intercoastal with a memorable sun set. Your pick or all of the above. Plenty of us down here love you guys. OK back to octane, my shop manuel says .....FUEL RATING Unit RON (Research Octane Number) 91 or PON-Pump Octane Number 86 (Pump Octane Number=(RON + Motor Octane Number)/2. WTF. Also in defense of The ROD, how many times do you have to explain something? Someone doing algrebra, when addition is correct. He is talking a analog circuit while you think digital. I fell into the same trap but most out boards are basic and require simple logic. Also how do we get back at BP for their F***up?

next time your at the gas station filling up, look at the pump.
on the pump will be a little yellow sticker,required by federal law,showing the octane and whether its ron or pon.
trust me its there.
how many times do I have to explain things? dunno I have two kids and both made it past 18.
most gas in the US is pon rated.
octane rating is quite interesting reading.
dunno about getting back at BP but I am buying all the BP stock I can .
its a bargin now and like exxon 20 years ago it will come back.

I sold my BP cause those aholes are going to screw america. Actually screwing us daily with 40,000 gallons of oil dumped daily into one of the greatest bodies of water in the world. I see your in the Carolinas and if you think its not ever going to effect you................................Wait for this summers storm......Im pissed, some one should be going to prison...........right know schools of Dolphin (mahi mahi) are floating dead
