HI to all
I just purchased a 1987 24ft tracker party barge today. It came with a non running 1965 65 hp merc. im really not interested in getting it running and want to repower, max hp is 115. I want a motor with a 4" gear case. But how long of a shaft do I need 20" or 25" ? what shaft was standard on this boat when it was new?" Any help would be appreciated

If you still have the non-running Merc, measure from the engine clamps where they resy on the transom to the cavitation plate. It will either be close to 20 inches or close to 25 inches. If it is in between like 21 -23 inches then that is a 20 inch shaft length.

the AV Plate is the flat plate above the prop.
