what parts can i take off????

i have a johnson 20 1987 i took the starter off years ago when it died starts so easy dont need starter anyhow what parts can I take off took all starter wiring out and can the stator and rectifer be removed? taking flywheel of to replace bad charge coil and sensor and what to remove everything that i dont need

Sorry, but you are not going to be able to get any extra room. Stator and rectifier are kinda important. I probably would of had the starter rebuilt for under 100 bucks, but then again, Im lazy

To answer the question at hand, yes you can take out the charge coil and rectifier and all related wiring with out affecting the running of the engine. You will loose all battery charging capability and I can see no benefitr for removal but you can do so.
