What Pitch? 87 85 hp

Need a new prop, wondering what pitch. thx Force motor, <br /><br /><br />try to help out a little more, not sure what prop is on there now, Its for a 17ft bayliner, and I use it for crusing around the lake, nothing special..

What size Engine and what was the max RPM with the old prop?<br />Should be numbers stamped in the sides of hub or possibly under the nut on the rear end of the hub.<br /><br />EDIT: I'm sorry, I didn't catch the "85HP" in the thread title.. I'd guess you're gonna be in the 17P range, but numbers from the old with WOT RPM would be very helpful.

I dont have a tach. I know I suck, I got this boat as a fixer upper and It ran good last year just doing some much needed changes this year. What would be a good tach for the money? Im fixing to actually move to the lake so I will run the boat alot more this year. So if I went with a 17p not knowing rpms would that be ok? and maybe get reading from it.. thanks alot for the info
