Fixing to rebuild carbs on a friends black max... ser#b962754...88 model...150. It has champions in it now...and I know mercs like NGK's. What plug are you guys running and have you changed plug heat ranges for any reason? He idles around alot and it tends to load up...I know thats not a plug issue but a carb issue..hence the carb rebuild. He does like to run it out though. Don't want to burn a hole in a piston either.
Main thing is getting the champs out...I know my johnnyrude likes them though...lol. I thought about going to a conventional instead of the surface gap..would that not protect the plug from fouling as bad when idling around?? Just a thought. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks alot!
