Re: What Plugs, etc?

How about cap, rotor, points and condensor. Can I get part numbers for those? I've read on another thread that these are marine specific so I want to be sure what I'm looking for. Sorry to be such a cadet but the Seloc I have stops short of that maintenance. Happy safe boating to all, the weather here in Central Texas is beautiful!

Thanks a bunch. jb

Below is the link to Mercs parts express. Just type in your serial number and you will be able to find the part number for any part you need. You don't have to buy from there, but it's a great place to find the OEM part numbers.

http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/HomePage/homepage.asp

Here is one other part number you REALLY need to order, it's 90-861327--1, it's the service manual for your engine. Since you don't have points and condenser, and it takes a special procedure to set the timing on your Thunderbolt V ignition, your better know what you are doing, instead of just throwing some parts at it.

Re: What Plugs, etc?

Sorry, last question. The Seloc shows the plugs to be gapped at .045. The manual doesn't distinguish between any of the non-EFI 5.7's so is .045 the right gap for my TB-V?

Thanks, jb

Should be a sticker on the plastic cover on the carb with the plug gap.
To answer your question, yes, .045 is correct.

Do you have a donation website that I can send money to in your name??? Really, you're worth your weight in gold.

I took your advice to get the Merc manual today as well. They sure are proud of those puppies.

jb
