Jason, all type I systems were the same the mid size engines used differant fasteners than the large inline 4 & 6 cyl engines did but everything else is the same.

Re: what power trim unit to buy?

hey jason, just wanted to throw my two-cents-worth in as i have the same 1150 engine and recently installed a complete used power trim system that i bought off eBay! what you should be looking for is, as Laddies stated, a type I system, and to be more specific the pump is known as, and referred to as, a Prestolite type pump, some of these pumps have a single solenoid and some have a double solenoid, either one is fine, but when you look for a pump ask the seller if it is a "two hydraulic line pump" or is it a "four line pump" as you will need the four line pump, two small hydraulic lines and two larger lines that come out of the pump valve body! Be careful, lots of these Prestolite pumps look very similar but some that came off of the Mercruiser inboard/outboard systems only have two small lines coming from the pump valve body and will not work!

thanks, I probably would have learned the hard way, hey what was your best setting for your old pin style trim, it's gonna be a while before I can purchase a power trim, right now I'm using the 3rd hole up from the transom, do you think the second hole would be better? J

Jason,
Pumps can have one or two solenoids. What you use will depend on the controls you have. If I remember correctly, controls with a trim button on them require a two solenoid unit. One solenoid pumps will need a dash switch

jason, The standard Type I PTT unit should fit your motor. 4 hydraulic hoses, and one or two solenoids as was stated. The difference between the one and two solenoids is the size of the wire on the non-solenoid (down) side.

The three push-button control panel has heavy duty switches for this purpose. If you are planning to use the toggle switch on a control handle, you can simply install another solenoid on the one-solenoid model PTT.

jason, Make sure you get the PTT Brackets, as well as the hydraulic lines, pump, pump bracket and control valve. The brackets hold the top of the PTT Cylinders, and you will not be able to mount them on your motor without them.

If you are in the NJ area, I will make you a real good deal on an entire PTT system (except pushbuttons) for your motor.

You can PM me.
