What prop do I need?

I just bought a 99 Ranger R61 with a 99 Mariner 90 hp. It has a 3 blade aluminum 19 pitch prop. It has good compression and everything checked out at the marina. However, I am having a tough time getting it to plane. It takes a long time and I have to have someone get on the front deck to get it to plane out. Would a different prop help? What prop should this boat have? Thanks!!

D, I have a Ranger R-70 that came from the factory with a 13 1/2 D. X 22 pitch stainless prop. Sounds like you need some more pitch to get the boat up on plane quicker. I assume you trim the motor all the way down when starting off.

My boat pops right up and then I trim the motor up for bow lift and speed.
