What size of propeller should I use/buy for this. I recently came into this motor and plan on puting it on my boat as a repower from a force 120hp. The application specific is as follows.

1991 Bayliner Trophy 2002 2840lbs
1987 200hp evinrude 455lbs
1981 10hp Honda 76lbs
4 People 600lbs
Gas 82 gallons 516lbs
Fishing gear 200lbs
-----------------------------------
Total Weight 4687lbs

The propellers from Evinrude are as follows

14.5" x 19p through 14.5"x28p

Don't really know much about this propeller pitch stuff. And have limited funds. So I came here for your advice.........

Re: What prop do I need?????

Try the 19" prop get us your wot max rpm and speed. If you read the stickies at the top of the page and the helps on the prop store page it may help you understand better about prop selection. We'll be glad to help clear up any confusion. The 28" prop isn't likely to work on your application
The 19" test will help tell what you may need. Are the props aluminum or stainless.
Stainless is slightly magnetic, aluminum is not.

The full throttle operating range is 5000-6000 RPM
Power head is rated at 5500 RPM.

I do not see the WOT number in the service manual.

As to speed. I would lke to get the highest reliable speed with good low end for tuding with kids. I do not troll with this motor. I have a kicker for that.

Say 45MPH at full throttle

You did very well with your info.We need to use that info to help us tell if your boat is setup right and performing as it should. It is likely that the 19" prop will be in the ball park on your application.
We need for you to test your boat with the 19" prop and tell us your wide open throttle(wot)rpm and speed by gps if possible. Test lightly loaded. We need to try to tell not only how it responds to the 19" prop but how well your setup seems to work.
When mounting the motor the antivent plate(just above the prop)should be about even with the bottom of the boat. The plate should be visable when on plane.
Were you able to read up on the info I suggested?

What Steele meant was to take your boat out with a 19" pitch and give us the results of the run.

What prop do you have available to you now?

You provided a lot of good information, but we need you to run a test. When trimmed, achieve your maximum speed at highest rmp or WOT (whichever comes first). Do not over rev the engine... stay below your max allowed by the engine.

Tell us which prop you used
What was your top speed
if you acheived WOT
what was your operating RPM

Without this information, it will be a shot in the dark.

Also, make sure your boat can handle 200HP. Make sure your boats rated top speed will not be exceeded. I'm not sure going from a 120 to a 200 will be too much for your boat.

Good luck!
