Hi guys I am in the market for a new prop for my boat since I dinged the old one up pretty good over the weekend .

My boat is a 1988 18' sea ray seville with a 4.3 liter v6 and and alpha 1 out drive (gen 1). The old prop was a 13 3/4 x 21. With the old prop my boat tops out at 38-40 mph with 2 people in the boat. I fell like the boat should be faster and was wondering if a different prop would help. At WOT the boats rpms are at 4600 but there is no increase in speed from about 4300 rpms to 4600 rpm. west marine recommended the two props in the link below. What do you guys think? Does anyone know what type of performance I would expect to see with one of these props? Anyone have any prop that they would recommend? I am looking at aluminum props because of cost.

Re: What Prop For My Boat?

Was your old prop a little damaged before it got really damaged? Was your old prop a 4-blade as the ones suggested or a 3-blade? Both these questions could have a bearing on the direction of the help you will get.

Good luck! I will try and watch for your answers. Other will know and help as well.

Re: What Prop For My Boat?

Thanks for your reply. The old prop was a 3 blade prop. It was a little nicked up before it really got damaged. I never gps the speed when the prop was in perfect condition only when it was a little nicked up.
