what prop should i use

i just bought a 78 avenger ru about,21ft, powered by a ford 302 aprox 188 hp, merc outdrive. it doesnt have a prop, what prop would you suggest using, mostly tubing and cruising fast.also any ideas on what top speed of this boat would be ( v hull)

Need to find out what the max RPM is from the manufacturer (Engine) and see if you can find a prop shop that will let you test run a prop.<br />I believe I would try a 17 pitch and see what your WOT RPM is after you determine what the max recommended RPM is, then we can give better info from that base line testing.

Go to any Mercruiser authorized marina and tell them the same information. It will be loads of money cheaper, than us selecting 1 when the engine is not strong enough to spin it . Now you have 1 useless prop. Want to go for 2 or 3 ?
