I have a 1986 16' Sarline with a merc 120 I/O with an alphaone. I was looking to buy a new prop and then decided that I have no clue on which one I need, or how to decide. I think the stores sale guys want to sale me the most expensive **** they've got. My boat does not have a tach or speed so I don't know anything really. The prop I have now is damaged so I need to do something. Thanks

Re: what prop to buy?

Have you looked into getting your existing prop rebuilt?

Depending on the prop you have, it might be a third the cost of a comparable new one.

Just a thought.

It would be helpful, though, to know about your existing prop. Size and Pitch, #blades, Stainless or Aluminum, etc......... Or at least try and find any numbers that are stamped into the prop.

I agree look into a repair.Without a tach or speedo stick with the same size prop
if you buy.
Should be numbers on the barrel or under the prop nut. something like 14 X 17.
diameter X pitch.
