what prop??

Ok right now i have a 13 1/4 17 p ss prop on the 15 astro bass boat with a 115 merc. inline 6 currently overevving the engine will turn 6000 without trimming. and running around 48 mph what size prop do i need to get my wot rpms down without losing my holeshot and maybe gain a little top end

You need a bigger prop...more pitch. How much pitch? Anyone's guess if you aren't able to run at full WOT and provide absolute top RPM/trimmed out/speed data.

Find one to borrow or see if a local shop will sell you an exchangeable 19 and see how it goes. If that's not enough pitch to slow the motor down enough, you can then try a 21.

No matter what you end up with on a larger pitched prop, you will indeed lose some holeshot in making the change. No boats will come out of the water any faster than those that are currently underpropped and over-revving....
