Re: What Props for nineteen 165hp
i got a flo torque II aluminum prop. 19p.
i like it for the load i carry (2 + gear and one or two large coolers) and the type of boating (pleasure) i do. my hole shot is respectable and maybe even a little better than respectable as i can generally smoke most folks out of the hole.
i obtain 4100-4300 rpm using this prop depending on the day. hot and humid vs. cool and dry. my slowest plane speed is at about 2100 rpms.
heck, i've had folks ask me what size v8 i got in my boat. much to their dimay i tell them i got a L6...

fwiw. i had the old style fan blade type prop when i got my Nineteen. trimmed up tight i could barely achieve 3900 rpm. bottom end of the spec. trimmed in/down i couldn't achieve bottom of spec. i felt it was to much prop for the boat. weather it was to much pitch or prop design i don't know, but i was sure it had to go to find something better.
i've also tried a 17 p fan blade type prop. great hole shot but had to watch the tach with my normal load. i easy was able to got past top end of wot spec. with a heavier load a 17p might be the ticket though if yer carrying a lot of weight.
if i was to get a different prop, my gut feeling is i'd like to try an aluminum 18p 4 blade. see if i could split the difference of the 19p and 17p that i've tried. no one has one for me to try though and i've not bought one.
