I have looked at Boyesen Reeds & CCMS hand cut composite fiberglass Reeds (Chris Carson's Marine Service) I got less then I expected back from CCMS email. "Ours are better" ....why....?.... are the Boyesen rubber 2 stage? would not that have faster/better response then fiberglass. I want to here who likes what?

i personally found some write up about chris.s reeds on Facebook & was very much impressed . however i plan to get some & would buy from who ever where the reeds have no spit back what so ever , this is very important when it comes to intake & combustion

Well after talking with the guy at Chris Carson's I ordered a set from them. I did not receive a response from Boyesen. Chris stated that the two stage reed does not have enough surface area to open the second stage reed. he states that on dyno testing they glued the second stage down & had no difference in the power readings. He also stated at the beginning of the conversation he was biased... Duh... But what he said was logical, he also spent over 15 min on the phone with me, Was very polite & answered all of my questions, before I said send me a set. I mentioned this site & he said he had not heard of it. I hope to install them this week.

Re: what reeds to buy? 90' Rude 48hp spl E48ESLESA

Hi everyone, new to this forum. I installed a set of CCM reeds on my 1993 Johnson CF 115 on a Nitro 170DC. All I can say is wow...what a difference. During the heat of the summer last year I could turn 5500 with a 20p raker. After installing the CCM sport reeds and testing in the heat of summer (and we all know how hot it has been this year) I have to back off the the throttle cause it will hit the 5800 limiter. The only change was the reeds. It idles so much smother too which is the reason I wanted to change reeds anyways. The midrange from 3500 to 4500 is like a different motor. Oh and I did gain around 1.5MPH top speed is 52.75mph GPS now. I made no idle jet changes. I did do a carb rebuild when I changed the reeds, no brainer since I would have them off any way and I had put carb kits in them 2 years earlier. I have no experience with other reed manufactures, but for the price and performance and customer support, I am a very happy customer. Thanks Chris for a great product!!!
