What?s a short block gm 350 worth in parts with a suspect crack in the block?

Here?s the short of the long with the engine. It?s a marine remanufactured block with low hours and ran according to the PO. It sat unused for over a year and the PO thinks rain water got into the air intake causing it to seize. I latter found water in the oil is why I assume the block is cracked. That could be my fault though. Water could've got into the engine when I had the heads off. The tarp blew off. Funny thing is when I removed the heads it now turns over freely for some reason. No signs of water in the cylinders. I got new head gaskets and torqued the heads down. Compression readings going off memory was 163 psi +/- 5 in all cylinders. At this point, I'm concerned there could be a crack in the water jackets. I don?t want to put any money into it even though it may be fine. I need an OB.

What?s it worth in parts?

Thanks in advance, Don.

Anywhere from scrap value on up to what used parts go for.

It's all subjective to condition. Block cracked? Take that out of the equation. Heads the same? They're gone too. Maybe they're OK though? A machine shop would be the only one who could definitively tell you.

(You also may want to pressurize the cooling system passages to see if you can hear any leaks. It will tell you more about the state of what you have.)

Same for the condition of crank (scuffed and already undersized, or serviceable), rods (spun bearing, other damage, or good) and pistons (scuffed, pitted from detonation, frozen rings, or maybe serviceable).

Short version....
You're not going make a pretty penny selling all the parts. SBC parts (even new) are a dime a dozen, and a running example of said engine can be had for relatively short money.
