Hey guys, wanted to ask here since you all would know the best. I pulled a complete, and i mean complete, OMC 120 stringer drive setup from a 1980 boat. Everything from the steering system(two cable system) to the wiring harness, controls, motor and outdrive. EVerything that relates to this package is here. The motor runs great and is in great shape, as well as the outdrive just recieving a new water impeller 3 months ago.

So my question is where should i start with price? is $1100 a good place for everything?

Thanks for any suggestions and your help!!

Re: What should i ask for my complete OMC setup?

Howdy,

It looks like a pretty complete setup!

If you have the time however, you're probably better off selling it by parting it out.

I did a similar thing when I removed my OMG 460 King Cobra setup a few years ago.

I don't think I could've got a LOT of money for the package certainly no more than $1500-2000 locally.

When I finally sell all the small parts and part everything out a little at a time over 3 years or so I got a total of $3500 for everything. ($1450 for the drive, trim cyls, pump, manifolds etc )

I used ebay mostly......And while I didn't "advertise" anything here on iboats, a couple of iboats members did contact me via private message to ask about stuff I had.

It's always hard to sell a complete package of anything. It's always easier to sell individual (easily shippable) components......on ebay, buyer pays shipping!

When you ship something big you usually have to palletize it though (and add whatever the cost to the price you want)

Rick,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write such great response! I really appreciate it. I think you are right on selling parts individually, I just hated to break it all up since it is so complete!
Thank you

Well,

You'll just have to decide which way you want to go depending on how many people are breaking down your door to buy it!

There's usually more people out there looking for just an engine or a drive or other large parts.....

You could of course start out trying to sell the package and see what happens.

Good luck!

I would say that $1,100 is fair if you start out trying to sell the whole thing. I recently bought a complete OMC electric shift (no steering cables or controls) that doesn't look quite as nice as yours does for $450. It's running on the back of the boat right now.

I haven't seen another electric shift for less than $800 down this way.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks everyone. i think i will list it on craigslist locally as a package and see what happens. if nothing i will start selling it off seperately on ebay and such. But yes it is all in great condition. the boat it came from had very low hours on it. Thanks again to everyone for your input!

Just a reference for ya...

I sold a complete setup for $550 (sans controls and cable and not quite as pretty as yours is there). I was pumped as was the fella I sold it to.
