I just recieved a 6 horsepower chrystler outboard sailboat motor that has sat for years. the lid is in pretty bad shape but that is not the problem. I do not have a gas can for it but i will borrow one. the recoil is a little sticky recoiling, but with a little pulling of it, it loosened up a little and i will wd40 it(this may be why it was not used in years). what else should i check before attempting to start it? i will check the plug/plugs, what else? any tips for a special way of starting it?

Go to the Engine FAQs and do "Awakening a sleeping outboard".

Good luck. :)
