Its a 73 cobalt tri-hull 16' with a merc 140.

The boat weighs 1600lbs with engine dry.

they guy I bought it from said you oculd pull up 3 skiiers but you could have maybe one other person in the boat.

He said it could also do around 50mph.

He does have a real nice stainless prop on there, but I don't know what pitch or how to figure it out.

So, How quick do you guys think this boat will be? How hard to pull up an unexperienced skier? With an unexperienced skier puller upper (driver)

A 3.0 will generaly get you in the 40 MPH range if all is well with the world ;)

It might pullup 3 people on twin skis but it is asking a LOT  out of 130 HP

I have enjoyed my 3.0 for 12 years i just keep my expections on the real side

well, i really just don't know what to expect.

All I really want to do is just pull up one skier on two skis or a slalom, at a time and pull a tube. So as long as I can cruise with that I'm happy.

You've got plenty of power for skiing. My old 85hp Johnson on a 15-1/2 ft tri-hull will pull 3 skiers with 3 more in the boat and 18 gal. of gas. But, I've also got it propped low so that it tops out at about 28 mph. If you find yourself wanting more pull for skiing/tubing, you can just drop down on prop. pitch. Nobody's going to want to ski at 50mph anyway. :D

^boatnik is right - you will pull just fine with that motor and if you need a little more holeshot just get a slightly lower pitch prop. That motor will run that boat just fine - However, I would be a little nervous about taking it up to 50 MPH.

yeah, $250 with trailer ski's ropes, vests.

Even If it needed a new engine Its a nice boat for the money.

with only a 16ft boat I would expect everything that guy tells you to be true I drove a simalar boat with a 115 hp outboard and it did about 48mph and pulled me out of the water on a slalom ski like I was not even behind it I dont know about three but that boat would definatly pulled out two of me on slalom skis and I am over 200 lbs 16ft is not much boat for 140hp
