What should I pay for this used boat - 09' Tahoe Q5 SF

The boat is in very good shape. Only a couple minor nicks, a cracked plastic speaker cover, and a missing center cover on the steering wheel. Not bad at all in my opinion compared to some of the other boats I have looked at lately. Only options were upgraded vinyl graphics and a 2pc cover, no bimini top. Trailer looks good too.

Bass Pro says the owner said he put about 35 hours on it in the one summer of use. He traded it in for a Tahoe 215 because he needed more space.

Research shows this is a 25-26K boat brand new in 2010. Leftover 2009's can be had for 22-23K but they are far away from me and hard to find. The 2011 is 1K more and I had them pull one up side by side and it is 99% the same boat.

Searching ebay and craigslist all over the country the Bass Pro asking price of $17,999 seems to be spot on and comparable with private party sales.

They just got the boat in on trade and it is not even in there inventory online so no one really knows about it yet. I happened to be looking at a new one and the salesman brought it up.

I don't want to pay asking price, it just doesn't seem right. NADA had it for $15,580 with zero options and average retail. It also said: Note: Vessels in exceptional condition can be worth a significantly higher value than the Average Retail Price shown. Not the best gauge in my opinion, thus, this post...

Let me know.

That's a pretty good price then for that package I think. If you can get it for anything less than $17k I'd say you stole it.

Test drive went well. Boat did 47 on the speedo and 44 on my gps. Does this sound right? Tach was steady at 4400. Is this also correct?

It ran better at WOT with the trim up a bit. Does this make sense? We had 600lbs of 3 guys in the back.

The engine stall between forward to reverse was a little weird? Comments?

A few minor loose hinges and what not that will be covered under warranty since the boat was first purchased this spring. Only thing that did not look right was a step in the floor between the bow and stern. Pics below. Let me know what you think.

Offered $16,999 and after some negotiating and grief they accepted my offer! Going to be about $18,300 OTD with tax, plates, registration, warranty transfer, change fluids, and storage for the winter. They are going to install a fishfinder as well, I just need to pick one out by springtime.

Thats a nice deal! I bought a Tahoe 195 with the same engine this summer and we've been really happy with it. Hope you enjoy it!

Kenny,

I see you changed to a 19p prop. Stock was 23p I believe. Mine runs at 4400rpm and the calulations I did have a 19p putting over the rev limit of 4800. Curious what changes you saw.

We looked at the 195 and actually test drove one. Very nice, but I felt we needed a windshield. All the extra space would have been nice.

Shouldn't stall at all. something is amiss, and I would make sure in your sales agreement that it's fixed.
