I don't post anything over 600 pixels on the longest dimension. File size can also be altered with editing programs that allow saving a jpeg at various "qualities." Photoshop is one example.

640 x 480 is the size that keeps the forum loading properly for many of our member's who are on slower connections.

The information on posting pictures, including a step by step video have been available for quite some time.

You can easily set the maximum size you want in Photobucket. Once you set it, everything you upload will display at that size on the forum. You do not need to resize each picture on your harddrive. KISS!

TD, Any reason we shouldn't use thumbnails? Seems they would help the dialup members, and I can't think of any reason they would be detrimental to the forum.

What's an easy way to do a thumbnail photo on photobucket?

Re: What size pics are allowed now???

Easiest way to post a thumbnail from Photobucket is to tick the checkbox under the picture that you wish to post

Photobucket-1.png

then scroll down to the bottom of the page and press "Generate HTML and IMG Code" button

Photobucket-2.png

One of the results will be

Photobucket-3.png

Then just copy and paste the link

I don't use this method much though because the result includes Photobucket's advertising

If one wants to take the time to open the image with photo editor and use "save as" to save the image at a reduced size, say from 800 X 600 to 80 X 60, or do the same thing from within Photobucket, then use the syntax,

Photobucket-5.png

The result is just the picture without the advertising

Image looks cleaner
