What size screws do i need for my stringer cleats?

I've installed my stringers and after glassing in will be installing the wood cleats. I'm doing the same as Friscoboater did on his refurbishment. I'm going to get 2" timber, which will be around 1?" planed I reckon. The stringers are 3/4" thick timber. I know I need to buy S/S screws and will likely buy bulk online rather than pay through the nose at Lowe's.
Can anyone advise me what size screw I need to get?

I eventually decided to go with #8 x 1 & 3/4" SS wood screws. I got them online from Jamestown Distributors for $10.56 plus USPS shipping. Lowe's were charging $8.00 for 25 smaller size SS screws and didn't even carry the size I wanted.
