Hello all

My boat is a -66 Jouet with a 140hp Evinrude going on a deep V hull.
It's 6 meter length over all LOA or 19.6' long over all

Since I don't have any experience of this I wonder what to go for.

Cording to Nauticus they recomend:

for 16', 17', 18'+ length and 60 to 150 HP 2 Stroke SX9510-60
for 18' - 22' length and 150 to 240 HP 2 or 4 Stroke ST1290-80 SX9510-80

So my wonder is, what will make the most satisfaction, SX9510-60 or the SX9510-80

The ST is the stainless steel version. The SX is the composite material. I have installed both. SX on my previous boat, ST on the larger boat I have now. The SX model is slightly easier to install only for the fact that the 25 degree down angle is automatically set when you install the actual tab. That makes it easier to measure and drill the holes for the upper actuator mount. The stainless ST comes with a gauge/template. You have hold the tab at the 25 degree angle while measuring for the holes up top. No big deal.

Of the two part numbers you are pondering, they are identical. Only the actuators are different. I would go with the 60's due to your lighter outboard vs. a heavier I/O. You have some adjustment on the pressure also. If you end up not having enough pressure with the 60's, you can just swap actuators out for the 80's. I don't think you will need to though. My 20' V8 I/O bowrider uses the 80's.

I love the Smart Tabs. They have made new boats out of both boats I have put them on.

Good luck, Update us on how you like them.

Thanks for your answer M8

I poped the question at Nauticus also but your answer makes totally sence. I was only looking into the length of the boat and the hp. I didn't consider the weight of the engine at all. Also now when you mention it I read about the numbers but my head doesn't seems to want to understand that the last digits are for the actuators and not the wideness of the plates.
60 it will be. Just waiting for the answer from Nauticus to compare but I can almost make a bet out of that they will tell me the same.

I have the stainless (ST) version, with the 60lb actuators on my 19' 6" cuddy, and they work great, FWIW.

I'd buy the 80's since that's what is recommended.

If you install them and adjust them to the lightest setting and they are still to much, according to everyone who's dealt with the company you won't have a problem exchanging them for 60's.

I'm just thinking I'd rather call up saying I tried what you recommended and...

instead of I ignored your recommendation, but I hear your a great company so please be nice to me.

I have to agree with NSBCraig, get what they recommend and if they do not work then Nauticus will help. I did, they did for me. You can also call them and talk to them first, give them the info on your boat, then get what they say. I see where you live so I hope you can call their 800 number toll free from there. 800-233-0194

Re: What smart tabs should I go for?

Thank you all for your help M8's!
I did actually recieve an answer from Nauticus last night, I think it has alot to do with the weight of my motor. An old V8 is a whole lot more weight than my modern 1988 aluminum V4 Evinrude @ 160kg )

Hi Zymox,
The tabs you are going to need are the SX9510-60. These will be best for you.
