I lost count how many starters and alternators i bought from DBelectrical.com he's on e-bay. Send him a e-mail or go to e-bay do a search.

He will send you the right one and the best price. And stand by his stuff, i can't recommend him enough. Get new bolts also.

Use the front bracket if you don't have one make it. Very important the front bracket.

Good luck !

The Mercruiser part number is 50-863007A 1 for the starter. If you want to replace the bolts, as Chief suggests, the part number is 10-805343 2, which are listed as 3/8-16 x 4.33

Not all blocks have a hole in it for a bracket. Being a 99, I doubt it has one, even if it did, the knock sensor and drain would be in the way.
Besides, the V8's have never had a problem with vibration and harmonics like the 3.0L engine and older V6's had. They NEEDED that bracket.

One other note, you should replace the starter bolts any time the starter is replaced. But, do not use off the shelf bolts. Get the proper Starter bolts. They have a knurled section on the bolt to prevent slop. Also, using the OEM bolts is best, they have a hex head for 1/2" a socket, the aftermarket bolts have a 9/16 head and may not have clearance next to the Flywheel housing cover.

I didn't look it up, but iboats may have used the other part number from sierra. Sierra list 2 starters that will fit your engine.
