Hi,

A forum friend over at marktwainboats.org has this on his boat and doesn't know what kind of Mercruiser it is or more importantly, how to get it off. He is in the process of replacing the floor and needs to pull the motor but can't figure out how this comes off.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dione

That looks like a Model 1.....
The precursor to Alpha.......
He needs Merc manual #1 for that.....
It is not like an Alpha.......
Good luck with that......:)

You guys are way off. That's an old II drive.
it tilt up by twisting sideways. Use in the early and mid 60's.

IR, and I drive parts are still available, forget about parts for the II

Dione,

I think I told told him it was a Mercruiser II drive.

Doug Russell does have *some* parts available.

That was the drive that came with the early to mid 60's 292 I-6, 283 and the 409 V-8 No thru-prop exhaust either!

I would start by removing the bolts that hold the engine in place, remove wiring first. then the engine now see in the back there are bolts that hold the outdrive on to the transom remove them.
