Ok my 1987 Force 85 HP does not have through hub exhaust. Can I buy and use a prop that IS FOR through hub exhaust on my motor, or must it be solid hub (no through hub exhaust)?

thanks

Oh does anyone have any info on them Piranha Props?

Google Piranha props. They run about $140+ shipping for a Force.
If it's made for a Force you can use it.Just make sure the thrust hub is there.J

Re: What style of prop?

Reviews on composite props look OK in lower HP motors, definitely considering one.

I am watching a Ebay auction for a stainless prop but it is a through hub exhaust. I dont have through hub exhaust. Will the exhaust opening make a difference if I use that style on my motor? Though hub exhaust prop on a non through hub motor....

Re: What style of prop?

You can use either a thru hub exhaust or closed end prop. Doesn't make a difference. I recently picked up a Michigan Wheel prop http://www.miwheel.com/. Go to the site and use the prop selector. Your would be listed under the 70-140hp cause its a single exhaust like mine, but as I said you can use the open thru hub one as well.

Last year, I ran the pirhanna prop and played around with pitch, etc. and wasn't real happy with it. Am getting much better results (re: wot rpm's) with the aluminum. I hanging on to the pirhanna as a spare.

Thanks for the info on the piranha props. What about the Vortex XHS with exchangeable hub system? Anyone tried them... As you can tell I am looking for the cheaper way out:), though I dont want to compromise performance.

thanks

Re: What style of prop?

Vortex will fit BUT you must remove the lower unit anode since the internal webs in the prop hub will hit it. ALSO my experience is that the equal pitch Vortex will load down the engine about 200 RPM so depending on your engine, you might need to go down in pitch.
