Hi All - Have a listen at this:

2006 Caravelle 232 Interceptor with 350 Mag MPI / Bravo 1. New to me about 3 months ago. Purchased with 185 ECU hours, now has about 250. Right after purchase I replaced the bellows, gimbal bearing, trim senders, just the common 5 year items. It's been very trouble free since I bought it.

After about a 1.5 hour cruise we were just above idle (~750rpm) and it started making this noise that sounds like a goose angrily honking at me. I honestly thought it was a bird following me down the river at first. Sounds like its coming from the rear of the engine compartment. Can't hear it at higher power settings, seems to vanish around 1100-1200rpm.

Managed to duplicate it in the driveway but it was less frequent and I couldn't narrow it down. It's such a unique sound I'm certain someone else has heard it before.

Anyone?

Water pump dying?

I don't know. Try taking a 3 foot long wooden dowel with one end rounded and hold it to your ear and touch different things until you find the location.

I don't think it's the seawater pump, but it had crossed my mind. I feel like it's probably hydraulic and related to the power steering.

Honestly, I kind of hope its the seawater pump as that would be a much easier repair.
