stupid trick done by me
Took a few friends and the Glassmaster up to camp at Lake Anna a few weekends ago for some skiing and fishing before school started. Half of us stayed at the ramp to launch and everyone else set up camp. Launched the boat fine, fired up my Merc (recently finished restoring) an let her warm up. Satisfied that she was running perfectly, i told my friend to untie us from the dock so we could pull around to the beach were we camp. Put her into reverse, swung around put into neutral then forward and engine stops dead. Doesn't slowly die, just STOPS. Anyone guess what happened yet?
:Curses: Darn thing worked in the driveway this morning...start inspecting fuel lines control cables idle mixture etc...after about 10 minutes we jump in to swim her back to the dock. As soon as I jump in...Sh*T!! Whats this line going from my stern cleat to the prop?
Apparently, my friend had in fact untied the dock lines, but I forgot to tell him to bring them into the boat!!
UGHHHH!!! How did I not think of that??
And of course it didn't help that we are teens so of course we got all the glares and stares of grumble grumble inexperienced noobs etc etc.
Thankfully, it didn't cause any damage to driveshaft, prop or LU seals.
Lesson learned!!
