I've got my eye on a 20 year old pontoon boat, made by Waco. Has Merc o/b.

I know what to look for on the motor, but what - and how -do I inspect on a used pontoon boat?

Also, any idea what these things weigh? (24 footer)

look at the toons closely look for cracks, dents, repairs, etc. look at and walk the floor checking for soft spots. check the motor pan for damage. and the rails as they are expensive to repair/replace.

Ya, not much to go wrong with a toon, mostly check the deck over well and the tubes as mentioned but other than the floor there really isn't much that can wrong with the boat itself, check good inside the seats if they are storage areas make sure the bases are sound and the floor under the seats is still good.

Of coarse make sure all the electrical stuff works too.

A pontoon that old may still have steel tubes. If that's the case I would not bother with it. They are impossible to repair. Fix one hole and you create two more.
