I got a 1989 force 125 outboard and just at the end of the season i put a new water pump on and now storing for the winter...My question is..I did the fogging and put the stuff in the gas tank now is it a good idea to remove the lower unit and store it inside the house or is it goona be the same as leaving it outside my cocern is the water pump is it gonna go bad from the freezing cold temps or not...let me know whats the best thing to do i don't want to have to replace it beginning of summer again....

What else can be done for winterizing the boat?

Thanks for all the help...

Drain and refill the lower unit now then let it sit outside all winter. This will not hurt the pump. The main reason for changing the lube now instead of spring is if water is trapped inside it will expand and can crack your lower unit. Make sure you pull the plug on the boat so water can escape during the winter. Seems no matter how good you seal a boat some water from snow and rain still finds a way in.

Pull the boat drain plug and raise the bow so water hopefully doesn't stand in the boat and try to cover the boat so air can circulate under the cover to some degree.
