Does the motor have a separate belt for the power steering - I don't know. If the motor uses a single belt for everything, remove the belt and watch for signs of overheating because the circulating pump isn't working with the belt off. If you remove the thermostat the motor will run cooler and as long as the water supply is adequate, you should be OK.

Find the manual here. I think it's #24. Section 4 has the wiring diagrams.

welcome aboard. is this a v-belt engine or serpentine belt?

I have taken an old pressure hose and coupled it directly to the return line to test run engines in the past. it will leak a bit if the clamps are not tight. would be a way to test run your motor if you have a serpentine belt setup.

thanks to you both,
it's serpentine.
somebody told me to bypass pressure port with inlet, my question.. the power steering liquid is not getting hot in this process?

what if I pretend to let the engine runs for long time?
what do I have to do?, take in mind it's the first run, the first start, I may need to do some adjustments.

why on earth would you need to run out of the boat other than for a few minutes to check for leaks and make adjustments. you cant run more than 1500 RPM as you will not have enough flow on a garden hose, and it will only take a minute to set timing.

I think you are over thinking it.

Ayuh,.... Just use a hose to connect the hi-pressure line to the return line,....

Run the in-comin' water through It's hose from the transom, through the P/S cooler,....

Why would ya wanta run the motor so long,..??

Hi thanks for your comments
I'm not a mechanic, I know the theory of timing and everything but definitely I'm not the guy who pretend to do it, I talked to a "mechanic" and he said sometime you need time to make adjustments and find any possible problem, he also said that you need to run the engine for a while for settlement of everything, valves, rings, etc, is not that true?, let me know and I'll look for another "mechanic"

Ayuh,.... A flat tappet cam, 'n lifters need to be "Run in" for 'bout 20 minutes at hi-idle, but only if brand new,....

The rest of the motor needs to run "Under Load" to accomplish the break-in,...
