what to look for in used 2stroke yamaha 150

Greetings-

Recently my Suzuki 1995 dt -140 hit a submerged object and prety much bit the dust- I now need a new lower end and possibly a new crankshaft as the timing was displaced. That being said, I'm looking at purchasing a 1997 yamaha 150 and wanted to know what to look for in a used yamaha. I would think that I could check the compression, lower unit, plugs but what else would be a good idea to review before I make the purchase. If I take it to a certified tech, what do they check on engines? Thanks

i would like to know what oil has been burned in the oil injection, also does the oil injection function properley? that being said ,i just helped a friend out who bought a 1986 150 ,it was in perfect shape,ran as good as my 2004,sweet spot at about 3600,and 4100, great motors, good luck

I just picked up another used boat and thought I checked everything on the outboard. Of course the thing I never thought to check: whether the tilt/trim leaks down.
