im buying a 1985 chris craft scorpion 168 with a 140 in it, the guy said the out drive is shot, he said he was driving and heard a noise, before he could slow down the noise got louder and the outdrive stopped working.

its a three hour trip to go get the boat, but its also a really a good price

any help on what to look for or what to expect would be greatly appreciated.

Well, take the vent screw out and check for oil level, loosen the drain on the bottom and let a few drops out.
If he`ll let you, pull the drive for inspection.
Depending, you can get a SEI for $1200 or so.

Ayuh,....

Just Plan on replacing the Outdrive,.....

That way the Only Surprise might be that what's there is salvageable......

ok so i got the boat, the only think wrong with it was the gimbel bearing!!


o mayne thats so sweet!!

does anybody know what the fuel capacity is on this boat or how i could find out?

uhmm... you could run it dry then see how many gallons it takes to fill up.

if you have the in deck tank, take the cover off and there will be an id tag that will give you the specs and it should be near the fuel gauge sending unit. thats how i found out my capacity.
