Last week was the first time I had my boat out in the rain (1983 16ft Invader Volvo Penta Aq125A/270)and I had to duck down in order to be behind the windshield when running. I have a bimini but it is really more for shade and to keep the rain out when I'm fishing. Without spending the money for a full enclosure, has anyone done anything to add an extension to the windshield using plastic pieces of some sort? If so, what kind of plastic?. I have a solid bow but a three piece front windshield with the middle one that opens. I also have snaps at the top of the windshield.

Washington...yes, it does rain there doesn't it!

Maybe a partial enclosure then? It might connect to the bimini. You could choose from the likes of acrylic, polycarbonates, clear vinyl, co-Polyesters, or something else. You might want some UV blocking in there too.

When I bought my boat it came with a Bimini top and a piece of clear plastic of some sort that snapped to the top of the windshield and zipped to the bimini top. Very good at keeping the rain out as long as it is coming from the front. I put zippers in the plastic so I could still use the walk through windshield.
