what type of controler?

Good morning. I was lucky enough to find a nice 1977 35hp evinrude short shaft remote controlled motor. model number 35752c. This motor has a black harness plug for the controller(five pin). What type of boat controller will work with this engine? Do I have to install a new wiring harness to get it to work with a red plug type controller? Thanks for your help...Rob

Yes, the colors must match. (If you have to change cables, change the one in the control, not the one on the motor). However, I THINK there is such a thing as a conversion kit. I have absolutely no details on that.

They do show a wiring harness for that motor at shop.evinrude.com.
