Different grease shouldn't be mixed. Use a marine base grease and stick with it.

http://www.greatlakestrailers.com/
Re: What type of grease trailer?

Recently read on one of the boards that EZ Loader comes from the factory with auto grease in the trailer hubs. As stated above you can not mix different types of grease. See--

www.mindconnection.com/library/handyman/greasecompat.htm

Your best bet is to clean hubs and bearings thoroughly and then use the green trailer bearing grease (Walmart = $ 2 or 3 dollars a tube)

Re: What type of grease trailer?

I find alot of quite interesting information at your website Jersey Jim....
But, just How Many of these Exotic Greases can be found at retail outlets by Joe Consumer ??????
Not Many.....
I Also find Much of the info listed to be Very Vague.... " can cause catastrophic damage to equipment" YA!!! Are we talking about Trailer Wheel Bearings, Or Nuclear Submarines..?????
I'll wager that Any of the Greases Readily Available to Joe Consumer will Work just Fine....
Colors of greases have Absoltely No relation to What the grease is made of.....

That said, I Stand by my Signature line....

Re: What type of grease trailer?

For bearings...use bearing grease. Unlike many other greases, bearing grease is formulated to not liquify under high temps experienced with the friction and road conditions normally experienced. Yes, many other greases have better lubricating qualities than bearing grease under certain conditions, but they liquify under various temps. Us old bikers used to heat grease in a pan (usually in the oven) and soak the drive chains until the grease re-solidified for effective lubing. But it wouldn't work so well with bearing grease. Stick to the right application...there's usually a valid reason.

Re: What type of grease trailer?

Bah! bearing grease is bearing grease, once a year I yank the hubs, wipe all the dirty grease off, scrape grease into the carrier till the cruddy grease is gone, wipe it down again, and pack it full up

buy a good sized tub for packin it, get a tube for the buddies, and be happy

those grease gun powered bearing packers are cool, but cmon, five mins and yer done doing it the old fashioned way

Re: What type of grease trailer?

Why would you use anything other than what is in every marine supply store in the trailer section,"marine corrosion control wheel bearing grease"I have never been in a marine supply store that didnt have it.It costs about 50 cents more than all the other greases you are all talking about and probably less than some of them.I repeat ,why would you use anything else????Unless of course you just want to use what is on hand at the moment, then I steal Bondos line.Charlie

Re: What type of grease trailer?

aint they neat? buddy of mine brought it over from the Snap On guy, lol, I got the dude started in auto mechanics years ago, always teachin him stuff, now he can blow my azz away, but hey, its ok, I was a good teacher is all!

know what ya do, get a seal top bucket and leave it in there, covered

slap the bearing in, pump it up, and good to go

gears are spinning in my head, I may get one of those packers, seems like a good buck can be had fixing trailers up, and blowin em out, and even the very largest trailers can be towed by the lil guy, to anywhere in country ... for the right price of course, buck a mile, one way, fifty minimum, Ill be happy! as a benefit, when the trailer arrives in one piece, they know its a good one, especially if it goes to texas or florida

course, getting rid of the hulls SUCKS, but I can chainsaw em into chunks and chuck em out
