What type of outboard?

I have a Outboard that has no ID plate of any kind. How do I know what HP and Year this motor is? It was stated as being an Evinrude 35 HP. Any Help?

Look for a small domed aluminum disk on top of the engine.<br />Model and serial number should appear there.<br />Post the numbers here and we can decode them for you.

I have looked for the disk on the top of the engine. I see a place on the side of the engine that looks to have had one. It is about the size of a quarter. I have numbers on carb,head,coil,on top of the pull start housing and a 35J8 stamped on the outboard top. Any other way to ID this engine?
