WHAT TYPE OF TACHOMETER FOR MY EVINRUDE??

HI GUYS,
I HAVE A 1977 115HP EVINRUDE THAT I NEED TO PUT A NEW TACHOMETER ON BUT I'M CONFUSED ON THE TYPE I SHOULD USE IE: 12 POLE ETC!! ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!! THANKS CHAZ

You need a Tach. that can be set to "6" pulse on the back (There is a small dial to set the pulses). This would be for your 12 pole alternator system. Or you can get a Tinytach. These will work with almost any engine...

So a 12 pole only tach will work for me, or do i only buy a tach that can be set to 6 pulse??? sorry still confused

Most universal tachometers being sold today have a dial on the back that adjusts the tach to accommodate pulses from alternators with a varying number of poles. Your engine has a 12 pole alternator. Set the tach to "6-pulse" (6P). The tach will come with instructions for wiring and switch settings.

Yes, a 12 pole Tach. will work...Or one that can be set to 6 pulse. Some Tachs have no dial for setting, but are still for 12 pole systems...Most Teleflex have the settings...
