OK, the weather is going south and and the mighty Mo will soon be down for the winter. I have a 1971 evinrude 25hp model # 25102 the lower unit housing is getting perty rough and the whole motor needs a fresh coat of paint. Going to start watching e-bay for new lower unit. What years will interchange? Is there a site where you can look up what will cross over. Thanks for all replies

Hi Alderman,
Your motor will take units from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s, 18-25hp. Later 1970s units get a little tricky as they changed out driveshafts to mate up with the 31-cube powerhead. Basically, any 22-cube motor's unit will interchange with yours (although mid-1960s and earlier will look quite different and lack the upper roller bearing).
- Scott

Alderman, you need to take that thing to Smithville Lake and do it in for the winter. :D

Well, since your gonna change it anyway. :D Crappie fishing is doing really well there right now.

Re: What will swap? (Winter Project)

Thanks chinewalker now all I have to do is get busy and round up all the parts I would like to replace this winter. I would really like to get this motor looking new again. It runs great just the previous owner never did anything to exterior.
Stumpy I may indeed try and make it to Smithville one more time this year. Providing this rain stops and I can get another weekend off. I really hate to let those kittys alone in the river, but even crappie fishing is better then no fishing.
Thanks Again,
Ray

Well, good luck on the motor...

Yep, this rain just won't stop. It's gonna take a month for the airfield to dry up here.

Have a good one...and keep on fishing!
