what would be the best pitch for a 48 spl. on a 16.5 cc it has a 17 on it now. would like to know if theres a better one for more speed. dont know how ack. the tach is but is reads about 5000 and gps speed reads 29mph. at wot. is that about max??

Rpms are a little low speed pretty close.Is that a light load?you would do better at about 5,500.
First check the height of the antivent(cavitation) plate just above the prop.
Usually should be a little higher than the bottom of the boat.
A position just before venting(cavitation) becomes a problem is ideal.
Under ideal conditions you could gain a couple of mph and some rpm.
Let us know, then we can think about a prop.

thank you for your time, thats with wife and my self and almost out of gas."holds about 20 gal." and just fishing stuff. i would say thats the way it always is. but the gas part. i have trimed up prop till cav. then down a bit till it stops. im not shur what the max rpms are for the evinrude 48 spl. in a way im ok how the 16.5 aquasport runs but if it can be faster for what it is i will do it...
