The 5.0 liter drive setup uses a 1.5:1, or a 1.61:1 gear ratio (depends on what year it was made).

Your year of 3.0 came with a 1.98L:1 ratio, though it later used a 1.94:1 or 2.0:1 ratio. Any of those should work.

You'll never be able to prop it down to what it needs to be for your engine. You need to re-gear the drive, or re-power the boat.

I wouldn't bother with a re-power on a Bayliner, unless you're in love with it.

If you want more power, sell it and get what you want.

Yeah it does depend on the year.

In 1987, the 2.3L had a 2.00:1 ratio, the 3.0L was 1.71:1 and the 5.0L was 1.50:1 (my King Cobra is 1.43:1)

Any drive that went on a V-8 would probably be WAY too "tall" for any 4 banger...

Oh.....I'd pull the whole mess and replace it with a Mercruiser  [JUST KIDDING!!!]

Sorry, I just gave you numbers for Mercruiser, not OMC... Dunno what I was thinking.

Anyway, the answer remains the same, the ratios may be slightly different though... :D
