I have a 1987 Regal Sebring with a 165 Merc Serial # B488663, 4 cyl 224 CID. I have water getting into the oil somehow and the outdrive has some sort of a epoxy patchwork 
I just purchased this boat for $2000 and the boat itself is in good shape. My question is would it be worth it for me to look for a new motor and outdrive of a different manufacturer or stick with what I got? I'm new to boating and have very little knowledge about marine motor applications. I also heard that this make of motor will nickel and dime me to death. Is this make motor easy to find and does anyone know where to find a manual? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
